Waylon Pleasanton
Director of operations
Waylon Pleasanton is the Director of Operations at Sustainable Generation®, bringing over 25 years of experience in recycling, landfill, and composting operations. He began his career at the Delaware Solid Waste Authority (DSWA), where he helped launch the state’s first curbside recycling program and oversaw yard waste composting at the Cherry Island Landfill using GORE® Cover Mobile Systems. His interest in composting was sparked early by DSWA’s visionary CEO, NC Vasuki, who championed alternative waste management and inspired Waylon to see municipal solid waste not as an endpoint, but as a resource to be recovered and repurposed.
Waylon joined SG in 2013 and has been instrumental in the company’s expansion ever since. Throughout his career, Waylon has developed a well-rounded operational skill set that spans technology implementation, permit compliance, lab data analysis, budgeting, personnel management, and regulatory navigation. His experience with public-sector waste systems and private-sector innovation allows him to bring a balanced, strategic perspective to SG’s projects that customers trust when making critical decisions about multi-million-dollar composting infrastructure.
Waylon’s proudest achievements include helping build SG from a startup into a nationally recognized leader in composting and earning the trust of SG clients who rely on him for guidance, execution, and long-term planning. He brings humility and curiosity to his work, firmly believing that every team member, at every level, has something to teach.
At home, Waylon practices what he preaches. He runs a backyard composting system for food scraps and yard waste, using the finished compost to grow vegetables in his family’s garden beds—a full-circle commitment to the work he leads.
