Frequently Asked Questions
What is SG Advanced Composting™ Technology?
SG ADVANCED COMPOSTING™ Technology combines the GORE® Cover with precision aeration and real-time monitoring to deliver high-performance composting — without the need for a building. It achieves in-vessel results at a fraction of the capital and operating cost.
Is the system certified for regulatory compliance?
Yes. SG ADVANCED COMPOSTING™ Technology is validated to meet:
-
Odor reduction 90-95% (Odor emission study)
-
VOC emission: US/Cal: > 95% thus California Compliant for 80% (acc. to Rule 1133.3, Rule 4565, Rule 4566 & BACT)
-
Meets U.S. EPA Part 503 (PFRP, VAR, Alt 5), EU ABPR.
-
Compliant with SCAQMD Rules 1133.3, 4565, 4566.
What’s the benefit of the GORE® Cover?
The GORE® Cover is a breathable membrane that blocks odors, VOCs, bioaerosols, and rain, while allowing composting vapors to escape. It eliminates the need for costly structures and biofilters while enhancing pile performance and protecting water quality.
How does monitoring work?
With the SG COMPOST CONTROL™ System, you can monitor and adjust oxygen, temperature, and system pressure in real time — from any device anywhere in the world with Wifi.
Can it operate in cold or wet climates?
Yes. SG systems are built for extreme environments — from snow and wind to high heat and humidity. GORE® Covers protect against precipitation, while aeration and insulation ensure active composting in all seasons.
What feedstocks and facility sizes does it support?
The system is scalable for food waste, yard waste, biosolids, digestate, animal waste, and agricultural organics — from small pilots to large regional sites.
Do I need to build a structure?
No. Our systems are designed to avoid the high cost of buildings while meeting environmental and regulatory expectations. Covered ASP performance = in-vessel performance.
How fast can I be operational?
SG MOBILE® or SG Heap® Systems can launch in weeks. Complete SG BUNKER® installations are typically online within 6–12 months, depending on site and permitting.
Can I tour a facility?
Yes. We have active projects across North America and Oceania. Contact us for a virtual or in-person tour.
